February

sagestowell

Flake laced fog

on a full moon's face

try to hold this moment

down at the corners,

tame it and live in it.

Magnolia meadows

in moonlight wash.

Contemplation of

new sweetness

and old heartbreak.

One foot follows another,

through crusted snow

and fat flakes falling

as pine wood whines

against the winter wind.
